machine recently announced their return in a big way.
For those who are unfamiliar, here is a brief introduction! The band originally formed in 1999 between vkei powerhouses HAKUEI (of PENICILLIN) and Kiyoshi ( of hide with Spread Beaver at the time, ex - media youth) with a major record deal, and then gained immediate success with their first single and album's dual release, including a sold-out Budokan show shortly after formation.
While the band continued to be successful with their subsequent albums, the band would go on a hiatus in 2002, revive as an indies act in 2004, pause activities in 2009, then restart again in 2012. At this point, the side-project for both members only appeared irregularly throughout the 2010's with their participation in releases with Litchi☆Hikari CLUB (ライチ☆光クラブ) and a hide tribute omnibus, but before taking yet another hiatus in 2018.
On April 4th, machine made their return to social media with a new OHP, new band photos, new members, and the announcement of a best-of album.
Joining the traditionally 2-member group are bassist Seek (of Psycho le Cému) and drummer Chargeeeeee... (of Omega Dripp, ZIZ, ex- Femme Fatale).
Additionally, the band will have a small fan club-limited live series in July entitled ULTRA BEAST, followed by a special live on December 28th at Shinjuku ReNY.
Lastly: machine will be releasing a new best-of album in 3 editions. Like many recent PENICILLIN and Crack6 releases, this album will also be made-to-order, so fans need to place their requests in for a copy during the allotted timeframe. The delivery date for the albums is expected to be November of this year.
DEAD STOCK TOYS 2025 will be a 3-disc best-of album, containing music from the band's first 4 albums. As the band's OHP describes it, these songs have "become phantoms" and cannot be released digitally for various reasons. So, they're rerecording all 28 tracks and putting them in one spot for fans to enjoy today. Keeping with their action figure aesthetic, the band writes:
"さらに様々なオマケを限界まで投入し、まるでおもちゃ箱を開ける時のような仄かな胸の高鳴りと共に最新型machineに触れていただきたい。" (Eng: We have also thrown in a variety of extras to the limit, and we hope you will experience the latest version of “machine” with a slight throb in your chest, just like when you open a toy box.)
DEAD STOCK TOYS 2025 comes in 3 editions. All 3 feature bonuses such as: stickers, goodie bags, a copy of Vicious magazine, featuring 64 pages of content and the names of all purchasers, and a signed certificate dedicated to the purchaser (who can choose if they want Kiyoshi or Hakuei to sign it).
Those who buy the DYNAMIC or MIRACLE editions also receive a ticket to the aforementioned live performance on December 28th. The DYNAMIC edition gets you a regular admissions ticket, while the MIRACLE edition gets you a numbered priority ticket + access to the show's after party.
All 3 editions of the album contain the same music and DVD contents. All 3 discs worth of music will be rerecorded and the DVD will come with 4 music videos + making-of content.
