Some sources state that the band formed in 1988, but LES ENFANTS TERRIBLES states that they formed in March 1989. Details unconfirmed; see discussion about GAIRRY.
TOKYO YANKEES (東京YANKEES) is formed by TOHDA and AMI.
Some sources state that GAIRRY seceded in 1988 and was replaced by TOHDA at that time. However, those same sources incorrectly list him as “GARRY” and give other details that conflict with the biography in LES ENFANTS TERRIBLES. Unfortunately the magazine does not mention former members.
The magazine does state that the band formed in March 1989, guitarist TOHDA was an original member, secondary guitarist Nori joined in May 1989, new vocalist UME joined in June 1990, and former vocalist HIYORI and former guitarist GAIRRY formed YOUTHQUAKE sometime in 1990.
Given those assertions, it seems most likely that GAIRRY was a secondary guitarist from formation and seceded in 1989, followed shortly by HIYORI the next year, at which point the pair formed a new band.
Another possibility is that the band did form in 1988, and that GAIRRY was replaced by TOHDA sometime during that year, but the band retroactively changed their official formation date because of some member change that occurred in March 1989.
Either way, it appears that GAIRRY was replaced before the band's first live, which (according to the magazine) took place in July 1989. Details are unconfirmed/unclear.
Guitarist GAIRRY was a member at some point, probably from formation, but details are unclear.

omg my theory/craziness that yankii culture and the vkei movement have been walking side by side since the time of boøwy, wasn't that wrong!?!? tipi I know there were some bandmen who were yankii in their youth, they use famous bands in the yankii bubble as inspiration and some even use yankii fashion today. But even so, it's kind of 🤯 to think that these two alternative cultures and movements, so important and iconic in Japan, are together and have always influenced each other.
NOTE: sorry for any grammatical errors, English is not my first language and sorry for any misunderstanding/error and misinformation about this topic that I don't see many here in the west talking about
I am the sanguinolento on another account!! and I had noticed this for a while but I thought it was just a small bubble and such. But this is all really cool for those who are fans of yankii and vkei culture like me XD
